Web Design

A website that earns its place in your business

We design and build business websites around a specific commercial job — then hand them over so your team can run them. For small and medium businesses across the Detroit and Miami metros.

Why most sites underperform

Traffic is not the hard part. Conversion is.

All the traffic in the world won’t matter unless the site turns visitors into enquiries. Businesses buy attention, then send it to a page that gives a visitor no reason to act.

A site underperforms for reasons that are almost always structural rather than aesthetic. The offer is buried three clicks down. The phone number isn’t tappable. The form asks for eleven fields when four would do. None of that is fixed by a redesign that only changes the colours.

What this looks like

  • A visitor can’t tell quickly what you do, or who you do it for
  • The action you want isn’t obvious on any single screen
  • Forms demand information a first-time enquirer doesn’t have yet
  • Nothing on the page is measured, so nothing can be improved
  • The site can’t be updated without calling someone

Scope

Six outcomes, one build

Each one is a design decision made early, not a feature bolted on at the end.

  • More traffic

Technically clean pages, a sensible URL structure and correct metadata, so search engines can index what you publish and your other marketing has somewhere solid to land.

  • More conversions

One clear action per page, short forms, visible contact routes, and enquiry paths that don’t punish someone who doesn’t have a website yet.

  • More revenue

Ecommerce, booking, quote request or lead capture, wired to the way you actually take money rather than the way a template assumed you would.

  • More authority

A site that presents your work, your people and your credentials as a real, staffed company rather than a stock-photo brochure.

  • More engagement

Content structures you can keep adding to — services, locations, case notes, posts — so the site grows over time rather than ages.

  • More ease

A build you or your team can edit without a developer, with written documentation and a handover session at the end of the project.

Selling online

If you sell, the store is the site

Ecommerce is not a bolt-on to a brochure site. Product structure, checkout, shipping logic and tax handling shape every other page, so we design them together from the start. We build for businesses that already sell and want the friction taken out, and for businesses selling online for the first time.

Each layer depends on the one beneath it, which is why product structure is agreed before any page is designed.

What a store build covers

  • Fully responsive storefront
  • Product pages
  • Product categories
  • Transactional emails
  • Payment options
  • Purchase limits
  • Tax options
  • Coupons
  • Discount display
  • Digital downloads
  • Stock count
  • Low-stock notifications
  • Shipping options
  • Shipping providers
  • Shipping rates
  • Tracking codes

Platform and performance

We’ll tell you what we’re building on, and why

Plenty of agencies describe a proprietary platform. We don’t have one, and we’re not going to invent one. We choose the platform per project from the ones we actually build and support, and we tell you the trade-offs before you commit — what it costs to run, who can edit it, and what happens if you leave.

  • Platform recommended per project, with the reasons in writing
  • Hosting arrangement named explicitly in your proposal
  • Performance tested on mobile before launch
  • You own your site, your domain and your content

In practice, that usually means WordPress or Foundation — the two platforms our developers build and support most often, alongside experience across a range of others. We recommend the one that best fits your project’s needs, and we’re glad to work within a platform you already prefer where that’s a good fit.

The right-hand column is what handover is for. It is a delivery commitment, not a performance claim.

Foundation technology

What actually runs underneath

Every build starts mobile-first on the front end and runs on a CMS your team can actually use on the back end — the same award-winning approach behind every build, designed to work cleanly on any screen, for everyone who visits.

Rock-solid security

Our sites use state-of-the-art SSL encryption and live on servers with 24/7 monitoring from AWS, making us one of the most secure choices available today.

Reliable hosting

All of our sites are hosted on AWS, the industry-leading platform, making our hosting some of the most reliable money can buy. AWS also hosts top-rated marketing, media, social, travel and other application-heavy websites — Lamborghini, Coursera and Nordstrom among them.

Analytics

You’ll receive detailed website reporting, including how many visitors come to your site, where they came from and which pages they visited. This data is vital for your business — it can reveal conversions and successes, and show the tendencies and weaknesses that become your roadmap for improvement.

Google page speed optimization

Every site we build is tested against Google’s rigorous page speed standards before launch. Our state-of-the-art platform is the fastest on the web.

Foundation in the wild

The technology foundations of modern organizations

Every organization — from global enterprises to growing local businesses — runs on the same class of dependable web technology. That’s the foundation we build on.

Process

Five stages, and you know where you are in all of them

Scope and schedule are confirmed in writing at proposal, against your project — not promised on this page.

  1. Discovery

We agree what the site is for, who it is for, what a good month looks like, and what has to be migrated from the current site.

    • Written scope
    • Sitemap
  2. Structure and content

Page-by-page structure first, then copy. Content is where projects slip, so we write to a schedule and tell you exactly what we need from you and when we need it.

    • Page structures
    • Content schedule
  3. Design

Page designs on the agreed structure, reviewed on desktop and mobile. Revisions are contracted at up to two rounds of content revision; anything beyond that is quoted, not assumed.

    • Two rounds of content revision
  4. Build and QA

Development, then testing across mobile, tablet and desktop before anything goes live. Mobile-responsive delivery is a contracted standard here, not an upgrade.

    • Cross-device testing
    • Pre-launch check
  5. Launch and handover

Redirects, analytics and a live check, then a session showing your team how to run the site. The project has a defined end, and you know what you are holding at it.

    • Redirects and analytics
    • Handover session and documentation

Common questions

Before you enquire

The questions we are actually asked, answered without the sales gloss. If yours isn’t here, ask us — we will tell you plainly if we are the wrong fit.

Ask us directly

Do I have to rebuild everything, or can you work with my current site?

Both are real options and we will tell you which one we think is right before you commit. If the structure underneath is sound, reworking pages and fixing the conversion paths is usually the cheaper route. If the site can’t be edited, can’t be measured, or can’t be made to work on a phone, a rebuild costs less than repeatedly patching it.

Who writes the content?

Either of us, and we agree which at discovery. Content is the single most common reason a project stalls, so we set a schedule for it in stage two and tell you exactly what we need from you and when. If you would rather we wrote it, that is scoped and quoted as part of the project.

Can my team update the site afterwards?

Yes — that is what stage five is for. The project ends with a handover session and written documentation, and the site is built so that the things you will actually want to change are editable without a developer.

  • Handover session with your team
  • Written documentation you keep
  • You own the site, the domain and the content
How many rounds of revisions do I get?

Up to two rounds of content revision are included, and that is what the agreement says. Anything beyond it is quoted before it is done, never assumed and never invoiced as a surprise. We would rather state a real number than promise unlimited revisions we cannot honour.

Will the new site rank better in search?

We build so that search engines can index the site properly — clean markup, sensible URLs, correct metadata, redirects from the old pages. That removes the technical obstacles. It is not the same thing as a ranking, which depends on your market and your competitors, and which nobody can promise you. If search is the goal, say so at discovery and we will scope it honestly.

Start here

Tell us about your project

A few questions about what you have now and what the site needs to do. It takes a couple of minutes. We read every one, and we will tell you honestly if we are not the right fit for the work.

  • A few sentences is enough to start
  • You’ll speak to the people who would do the work
  • Tell us which branch you’d like to work with
  • No website yet? That field is optional

Web design enquiry

No guaranteed results. New World Web Solutions does not guarantee any particular commercial outcome, search ranking, traffic level or sales figure. What we commit to is the work described on this page and the deliverables set out in your written proposal. Results depend on your market, your competitors and factors outside our control.
